We are pleased to announce that the Arus Perdana Research Project (UKM-AP-CMNB-02-2010) with the cooperation of the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia are holding an International Conference on Consumer Law on 21st September 2011. You are welcomed to the Conference either as paper presenters or participants.
The main theme ‘Social Justice and Consumer Law’ is chosen due to the close connection between social justice and the law. Law is seen as an instrument of control. Law acts as a control to achieve social integration. In the realm of consumer protection, social integration is achieved by ensuring rights and interests of consumers are being upheld. Consumer interests cut across the whole spectrum of social and economic problems. These problems are reflected in the focus areas of the Conference, inter alia, health and safety, the environment and right to redress. In producing a consumer protection framework towards achieving social justice, this Conference will provide an avenue for all scholars to present and discuss findings in relation to the focus areas of the Conference. It is the hope of the organisers that this Conference will produce a fruitful discussion amongst the scholars.
